Irene’s Dessert Table
Wildomar, California

After moving to a new city that required a two-hour daily commute for work, Irene Cruz, owner of Irene’s Dessert Table, decided she needed a new career path. Since she had experience working in and managing numerous well-known Orange County bakeries, Irene’s decision became quite simple—she would open her own bakery. However, one decision remained: where would this bakery be? Irene settled on the idea of opening a home- based kitchen, and Irene’s Dessert Table was born.

The surrounding agriculture is a leading force in what makes Irene’s sweet treats so special. She uses organic, locally produced ingredients in all her baked goods and grows her own edible flowers, which she uses on many of her creations and even sells them to her patrons. One of her most popular offerings is her miniature cheesecake, which is garnished with her edible flowers and comes in flavors such as guava, raspberry, and lavender-blackberry.

Each of Irene’s creations are hand-decorated for her customer’s specifications, and appearance is an important aspect of her business. “Most of my customers find me on social media. All new inquiries, without fail, comment on my feed . . . social media is my storefront, and each photo needs to tell my story.” Even the packaging tells a story, with each bakery box featuring her signature “Yum!” calling card.
