Yixing Teapot
Made from purple clay, or zisha, which is found only in China’s Jiangsu Province, Yixing teapots, like this piece from The Tea House, are typically used to brew Pu-Er and oolong tea. Rather than put the tea leaves in a separate strainer or infuser, they can be brewed in the petite teapot itself. And because of the porous nature of the clay when hot, these vessels have the ability to retain the flavor of the tea, which builds up with each infusion, earning them the moniker “memory teapots.”
