Just 45 minutes north of San Diego, the casually sophisticated Park Hyatt Aviara Resort is set among 200 picturesque acres and includes a master-planned community, Aviara, as well as an Arnold Palmer–designed golf course. Afternoon tea is served in the Lobby Lounge Friday and Saturday, 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. Guests at this reservation-only English tea sit at tables or clusters of comfortable couches and chairs to enjoy sultana scones and a selection of sandwiches, pastries, and tea cakes, as well as a pot of loose-leaf tea or a glass of sparkling wine, port, or sherry. Sandwiches include curry chicken salad, smoked salmon, and sliced cucumber. A plate of homemade jam, lemon curd, and cream accompany the white raisin scones, and small desserts feature strawberry macaroons and fruit tarts with vanilla cream. Glimpses of bright blue sky and verdant palm trees through the lounge’s large windows enchant guests as they enjoy this delightful fare.
