The ladies thoughtfully presented me with an unexpected keepsake and a thank-you for the tea—a sporty hat with the word “Harley” bejeweled on the crown.
As their premier tea experience was ending, I couldn’t resist the temptation to hop on a Harley and imagine myself flying down the highway with the wind in my face. Escaping the tearoom still wearing my pink tea apron and new hat, I maneuvered myself onto the seat of a magnificent turquoise cycle and posed for a “keeper” photo, which I will always cherish.
I hope the ladies enjoyed their teatime trek. Perhaps the experience inspired the Ladies of Harley to take their bikes for a jaunt to yet another tearoom, just as I may vicariously take to the open road atop a motorcycle someday—but with my electric tea kettle, china teapot, and favorite cup and saucer as traveling companions!
Enjoying retirement and her four granddaughters, Sylvia Evans lives in Vista, California, with her husband, Ralph, and their 2 Labradors, 14 chickens, and an African Grey parrot.
