The Royal Park Hotel is a four-diamond boutique hotel in the heart of Rochester. Though it opened in 2004, it has the character of an old English manor house built centuries ago, and it offers the perfect setting for the hotel’s popular Royalty Tea.
Director of Outlets Annette Chapman has enthusiastic praise for the staff and their contributions to the exquisite experience of taking tea at Royal Park. Guests are first seated in the library, where they can relax until tea hostess Mary Kuhn escorts them to the light-filled gallery that overlooks scenic Paint Creek. Here they are offered three-tiered trays of delicious fare, from Smoked Salmon BLTs on Rye and Spanakopita to seasonal scones and tea breads, along with a selection of Mighty Leaf teas.
Annette believes that Mary’s position is “a calling.” She keeps a book where she lists guests’ names by hand and meticulously details the table setting and what was served so that each time patrons return they can enjoy a different experience. She also fancifully decorates the honoree’s chair for special events like birthdays and baby showers.
“I love people, and I meet so many different types here,” says Annette. “It’s rewarding to see the smiles on the guests’ faces because we offer them something so special.”
Royalty Tea is served from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday. To provide the best service possible, the room requires reservations to be made at least 24 hours in advance.

I Love This article and the Website. So interesting and informative. Makes me want to go back to Michigan and see it and experience it.
