An affinity for antiques has led the way for most of Brittany Cobb’s life. She has fond memories of growing up shopping at antiques malls with her mom, perusing every inch of the glorious treasures. After the mother-daughter duo would grow tired of stopping at every booth and worked up a hearty appetite, the two would take a break at the tearoom nestled inside for lunch or a sweet treat. A move to Texas prompted Brittany to ponder these memories and dream about opening her own version in her new state. In 2009, the female entrepreneur did just that by opening The Dallas Flea, a quarterly pop-up shopping event, which later rebranded to Flea Style in 2015. In 2019, a second location in Frisco was added, an antiques mall–tearoom hybrid.

Flea Style is a 6,100-square-foot retail emporium for handmade, vintage goods, such as attractive hats, stylish clothing, and eye-catching brooches. It’s a one-of-a-kind concept where an afternoon of shopping culminates in a memorable teatime to perfectly cap off the fun-filled day. Heirloom Haul, the casual ideation for “ladies who lunch,” is laden with unmatched finds to adorn the walls and the tables. Appealing art and hand-picked china, all carefully collected and chosen by Brittany, provide a homey and warm feeling that adds immense character to the dining. The focal point is a vintage trailer displaying the business’s name, evoking a sense of nostalgia of hauling heirlooms in days gone by. The space is thoughtfully designed to be a continuation of everything a customer might witness during a shopping journey. The ambiance is a wonderful mix of fun, relaxing, and noteworthy.

“Our afternoon-tea service is classic with a casual Southern twist,” Brittany explains. “We are not a fancy tearoom; the purpose is to be a place to have delicious small bites with loved ones or colleagues in a pretty setting that is far from stuffy.” Whether you choose to select the aforementioned service or would rather enjoy a simple salad or soup for lunch, it is extremely difficult to go wrong with anything on the menu. The traditional afternoon tea, available for $35 per adult and $20 for children, affords a sampling of tasty tea sandwiches (best-selling chicken salad with a hint of tarragon, egg salad, pimiento cheese, and a cucumber-dill cream cheese), two scratch-made deviled eggs with a touch of hot sauce, and delicious mini muffins and homemade macarons from a local bakery.

All of the ingredients, for both the tea service and the lunch menu, incorporate Brittany’s love of California-fresh ingredients with classic Southern flair. Children who attend Heirloom Haul’s teatime additionally receive a pretty pearl necklace and a pair of white gloves for the occasion. Alongside the delectable bites, seasonal iced teas and traditional hot teas, such as Earl Grey and English Breakfast, are available to savor with the meal. If those don’t tickle your fancy, try other hot varieties such as Organic Peppermint, Cinnamon Spice, Lemon Herbal, and Green with Citrus and Ginkgo.

A true treasure trove of unparalleled goodies and equally fantastic fare awaits at Heirloom Haul. A visit to the Southern antiques mecca just might result in much more than a cute blouse and an incredible chicken salad sandwich, but rather a marvelous memory of a well-spent afternoon, akin to Brittany’s childhood that sparked it all.
Heirloom Haul is open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Reservations are encouraged; however, walk-ins are welcome.
