Sophie Roth Dit Bettoni opened her tearoom at the end of 2015, and since then, it is always full of returning and new customers. Her grandparents owned a pastry shop, so owning a tearoom was in Sophie’s blood, so to speak. But it was her admiration for her two grandmothers that motivated her to name her business after them. Sophie fell in love with the city of Lyon after a visit and decided to settle down here and to leave a successful career in marketing and communications to start the Jeannine et Suzanne adventure.

Her gorgeous tarts are so successful that you’d better come early to get one. Bearing girls’ names, such as Aliénor, Clothilde, Suzon, and Albertine, the pastries are made with seasonal fruits and are all so elegant, but also delicious, making it quite difficult to choose.

To accompany the desserts, Sophie serves Harney & Sons teas and offers a choice among many flavors, which are also available for purchase. The pretty metal boxes are aligned on the shelf, with other yummy products in a corner called épicerie, which includes items such as chocolate, coffee, cookies, and candies.

In September 2020, she launched a new comptoir of viennoiseries, or bread counter, so if you’re craving, a good croissant or brioche, you will certainly want to visit. In the back room, there’s a coworking space for those who wish to mix work and gourmandise.
