1. Invest in a proper tea set.
Whether you choose antique silver, fine bone china, or a less expensive tea service, begin building a collection today. Adding to your treasures over time is part of the joy of collecting, and it is a good idea to acquire everything you need to properly serve tea to guests, whatever your price range. Ideally, you’ll want a matching teapot, sugar bowl, milk jug or creamer, teacups and saucers, and dessert plates. A serving tray is also needed, along with a selection of linens.
2. Add a few new teas to your repertoire.
Most tea lovers have a particular blend they turn to time and again. And while a familiar infusion is like an old friend, it’s also good to take a chance and discover a new favorite. If you prefer green teas, pick up a black or white tea, and vice versa. If possible, find a tea shop or purveyor of fine teas and seek the guidance of an expert. When purchasing your standby leaf, don’t be afraid to request samples of suggested new teas!

Hey there!
nice blogpost. My new years tea resolution is to try more diverse tea and maybe to do a tea vacation in china!
Wish you all the best for 2019
China is a great idea! Maybe India would be fun too.
How proper is proper? How much matching is required? Asking for a free-spirited friend.
IMHO : Use what makes you happy and your guests feel welcome! Formal or Traditional would be more matching, of more precious materials, and perhaps heirloom pieces, but really, use what brings you joy. If you have it and you like it – use it. Likewise with the food. It’s about the people and the shared experience, yes?
These are some lovely suggestions for the coming year! <3
