Topped with a flag, these petite sliders boast the expected burger elements—beef patty, cheese, lettuce, and tomato—however, in lieu of buns, crispy tater tot rounds hold this hearty morsel together.
All-American Mini Cheeseburgers
Serves: approximately 20
Ingredients
- 40 frozen tater tot rounds*
- 1 teaspoon fine sea salt, divided
- ½ pound ground beef
- ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
- ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
- 20 (1½-inch) square slices American cheese
- 6 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 3 tablespoons Dijon mustard
- 20 (1½-inch) pieces butter lettuce (5 to 6 leaves)
- 20 slices cherry tomato
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 425°. Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Spread tater tots in a single layer, and sprinkle with ½ teaspoon salt.
- Bake until rounds are extra crispy, approximately 18 to 22 minutes.*
- Divide ground beef into 2-teaspoon portions, and flatten each to a 2-inch diameter patty.
- In a small bowl, stir together pepper, garlic powder, and remaining ½ teaspoon salt. Sprinkle patties with salt mixture.
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook patties until desired doneness is achieved, 1 to 2 minutes per side. Remove skillet from heat, and top each patty with a cheese slice.
- In a small bowl, stir together mayonnaise and mustard.
- On each tater tot round, spread approximately ½ teaspoon mayonnaise mixture. Top mayonnaise side of 20 tater tot rounds each with a beef patty, a lettuce piece, a tomato slice, and another tater tot, mayonnaise side down. Secure each with a wooden pick. Serve immediately.
Notes
*We used Ore-Ida Golden Crispy Crowns. For best taste and texture, it is important to cook until extra crispy.
