With so many choices and experiences to be had, these fairs can be overwhelming.
Here are my tips for planning ahead and getting the most out of your tea festival experience:
- Sign up for the festival newsletter in order to know dates and classes as soon as they are announced.
- Recruit a friend or family member who enjoys tea to accompany you on your adventure.
- You may need to reserve a hotel room well in advance. Discounts for attendees are often available on the show website.
- Study the schedule of workshops and lectures for topics of interest. Some are free, but many require a paid ticket. Be aware that popular workshops often have limited seating and may sell out quickly.
- Visit the exhibitors’ tables and meet the owners. They are eager to share their samples and passion for tea. Where else will you have opportunity to taste so many quality teas from around the world as you expand your tea palate?
- Walking the show floor for up to eight hours can be exhausting. Wear comfortable clothing and take advantage of audience seating for a lecture or two.
- Meet the people who are helping lead the American tea culture. Many of your favorite writers and speakers will be signing books and giving lectures. This is your opportunity to meet them and share your unique tea story. You’re doing them a great favor because writers love to meet someone who reads what they publish.
