When choosing a venue for her New York wedding in 2012, Mandy Sticos knew she wanted to incorporate vintage china into the vision. Being an event planner for 15 years, Mandy was extremely familiar with the ins and outs of setting a proper table and fell in love with the art.
“I’ve always been a vintage lover and collector,” Mandy states, “always going to flea markets and estate sales. I went to art school and was always enamored with the visual part of table setting.”
After searching high and low for the aesthetic she wanted to present for her big day, Mandy came up with a novel idea for that time—to start a boutique rental business so other vintage lovers like herself could easily find older teawares filled with history. The idea was brought to life after her wedding, and Little Vintage Rentals came to fruition. The rental company specializes in furnishing vintage teacups, tabletop serving items, such as silver trays and salt cellars, and small décor, like candlesticks, vases, and antique cameras. Additionally, the company’s inventory extends to vintage décor and props like suitcases, books, and working typewriters.
Convenient packages, like the “tea party package,” are available for clients to simply choose dishware and serving pieces for smaller events. This package includes an assortment of floral teacups and mismatched saucers; sugar bowls and creamers; glass cake stands, trays with handles, and/or serving platters; and milk glass vases or old-fashioned bottles for not-so ordinary floral arrangements. The bundle is highly popular for baby showers, bridal showers, and intimate gatherings, for the easy selecting that’s presented to hosts and the pretty femininity found in the dainty items intentionally designated for events like these.
“I feel that people think that something like this is going to be so expensive,” Mandy says. “Our tea party package is surprisingly affordable and undeniably elevates any event.”
