SUNDAY, JUNE 22 (GLASGOW)

The lovely Hotel Du Vin will be our home-away-from-home for our days in Glasgow. Following check-in, which begins at 3:00 p.m., we’ll partake of a welcome afternoon tea together where we’ll enjoy meeting our fellow travelers and preparing for our exciting week.

MONDAY, JUNE 23 (GLASGOW)

Following breakfast at our hotel, an executive coach will take us to Mackintosh at The Willow, where we’ll have a private tour of the notable tearoom, which was designed by famed architect Charles Rennie Mackintosh. We’ll learn about Scottish tea history from Richard Ross, founding chairman of Tea Scotland, and then indulge in afternoon tea at Mackintosh at The Willow’s impressive and beautiful Deluxe Salon.

TUESDAY, JUNE 24 (GLASGOW & DILLARBURN)

Enjoy breakfast at our hotel, followed by morning free time to explore Glasgow. At 1:00 p.m., we’ll board our coach and depart for Scottish Tea House in Dillarburn, South Lanarkshire, where we’ll spend the afternoon touring its tea gardens, tasting teas grown there, and savoring a delicious afternoon tea menu abounding with local foods. We’ll return to Glasgow and spend one more night at Hotel Du Vin.

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 25 (ANGUS & EDINBURGH)

Today we’ll travel by executive coach to Edinburgh by way of Angus, where we’ll be treated to a private tour of and afternoon tea at Glamis Castle, where King Charles’s maternal grandmother was born and her family still lives. We’ll also visit Walker-Munro Farms (the first tea farm in Scotland), where you’ll see how tea is processed, try your hand at plucking tea, and participate in a tasting. The luxurious Balmoral Hotel in Edinburgh will be our posh home for the remainder of our week.

THURSDAY, JUNE 26 (EDINBURGH)

After we enjoy a bountiful breakfast at The Balmoral, we’ll learn from Executive Pastry Chef Ross Sneddon tips and techniques he uses for the exquisite pastry creations that are the cornerstones of afternoon tea at the storied hotel. Later, we’ll depart for afternoon tea at Fingal, Scotland’s only luxury floating hotel, followed by a private, afterhours tour of The Royal Yacht Britannia, the former royal yacht of the British monarchy.

FRIDAY, JUNE 27 (EDINBURGH)

This morning, we’ll divide into two smaller groups for a private tasting of whisky-inspired teas at PekoeTea and for a guided tour and herbal tea tasting at The Royal Botanic Gardens. We’ll have an early afternoon tea at The Balmoral Hotel followed by a private tour of its kitchens with Chef Ross. Later that afternoon, we’ll visit National Museums Scotland and admire its extensive collection of teawares.

SATURDAY, JUNE 28 (EDINBURGH)

After a leisurely morning on your own, we’ll have a one-of-a-kind, closing afternoon tea at Tigerlily, which Jane Pettigrew describes as “utterly gorgeous, joyful, and extravagantly designed,” where we’ll toast our wonderful week of adventures and new friendships. You’ll have the remainder of the evening on your own to enjoy breathtaking Edinburgh.

SUNDAY, JUNE 29 (EDINBURGH)

Check out by noon and depart with wonderful memories of our tea-filled week, including taking tea aboard a handsome boat, in a historic castle, beside the plants of a tea garden, and many more memorable occasions.

What airport do I fly into to begin the retreat in Scotland?

Because the retreat begins in Glasgow (GLA) but concludes in Edinburgh (EDI), participants may wish to book a multi-city airfare. Alternatively, participants could fly into and out of Edinburgh and travel by car or train to Glasgow.

Can I extend my stay at the hotels?

If you’d like to inquire about additional nights, please email ttevents@hoffmanmedia.com. Some guests prefer to book a room for the night before their arrival, so it is ready after all-night flights from the US.

Can I upgrade to a suite?

Upgrades are available based on availability. Email us ttevents@hoffmanmedia.com for more information.

Is breakfast included?

Daily full Scottish breakfast is included.

Are children able to attend this retreat?

All participants must be 18 years old or older to attend this retreat.

If I book a double-occupancy package, will the hotel room have two beds?

Due to the uniqueness and European charm of the hotels, double-occupancy rooms might not have two beds. If you are traveling with a friend or adult child, you can request two sets of linens on one bed.

How much physical activity can I expect?

Although we will have a private coach for most of our activities, walking will be required for tours and other sightseeing. Participants should be able to walk approximately ½ mile in less than 15 minutes and/or to climb a flight of stairs without extreme shortness of breath or other physical ailments. Some activities might require standing for long periods of time.

Will we have any free time?

You will have most evenings free to enjoy dinner out (if you aren’t too full from afternoon tea, that is) and to explore Glasgow and Edinburgh.

To reserve your spot, email ttevents@hoffmanmedia.com. You will be required to pay your registration fee within 48 hours. Reservations will be taken in the order in which we receive emails.

I want to thank you for another wonderfully memorable tea retreat! I enjoyed every minute of it. It was so well organized, and the activities and teas were “just right.” I especially enjoyed the visits to the tea farms and, of course, Glamis Castle and the Royal Yacht Britannia. It was wonderful to meet up again with you as well as make some lovely new friends.

The tour was amazing and hit all the top notes for me. The entire tour was of the highest quality and standards, and both Lorna and Katherine were most accommodating. I could not have asked for more.
