A Midwinter Tea for a Snowy Afternoon

Celebrate the frozen landscape with an elegant but cozy tea.

With its ice-covered branches and snow-capped trees, winter’s landscape is beautiful yet chilling. Playing in the snow can be fun, of course, but once you’ve come inside, wouldn’t you rather be in front of a cozy fire, enjoying our Midwinter Tea?

Calling on soothing shades of silver, white, cream, and wintry blue, we’ve set a table reminiscent of the snowy landscape. Lit with glowing golden candles and accented with simple arrangements of sweet, white tea roses, the setting is inviting and refreshing.

In contrast to the chilly tablescape, our menu comprises warming savories, sweets, and, of course, scones. We begin with Smoked Gouda and Rosemary Scones, made with self-rising flour, fresh rosemary, and gouda cheese.

Nothing warms you better on a cold winter’s day than a warm bowl of soup. Our elegant Creamy White-Bean and Sage Soup is finished with cracked black pepper and a swirl of black truffle oil.

Shallots and sharp gorgonzola cheese flavor these Miniature Blue Cheese Quiches. Use our pie dough, made from scratch with sour cream, or take a shortcut by using refrigerated pie dough from the grocery store.

A spicy marinade that includes Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, ginger, cinnamon, and three kinds of pepper gives these hearty Marinated Pork sandwiches extra zip. Serve them on light and fluffy yeast-raised Angel Biscuits for the perfect teatime treat.

Everyone loves mashed potatoes, but how about mashing a different vegetable? This Celeriac Mash, made from celery roots, will introduce your guests to a different taste. A pomegranate reduction, drizzled on each plate, adds color to the table and flavor to the dish.

A trio of sweets rounds off the menu for our Midwinter Day Tea. Start with these Date Puff Cookies—puff pastry dough filled with chopped dates, walnuts, and orange zest. A light dusting of confectioners’ sugar is the perfect garnish.

These miniature Cinnamon Rolls, made from refrigerated breadstick dough and baked in a mini muffin pan, are super-easy to make. The White Chocolate glaze adds a touch of elegance.

Steeping toasted almonds in the cream and milk for these Toasted Almond Panna Cotta produces a creamy dessert with an exotic flavor, the perfect finish for our Midwinter Tea.
