8 Inspiring Autumn Tablescapes

Inspired ideas for setting pretty autumn tables for tea.
Now that autumn is officially here, it’s time to begin mixing in the elements of the season—freshly harvested apples, multicolored leaves, rich tones of red, orange, brown, and purple—into your table settings. Let us show you how to bring the exuberance of fall into your tea table.
autumn tablescapes1. Apple Appeal
Above, we’ve set our tea table outdoors to enjoy autumn’s delightful weather. A classic china pattern, Franciscan Apple, and cranberry-striped table linens set the tone for this apple-themed tea.

2. Golden Charm
For a more formal occasion, mixing gold-trimmed patterns such as Wedgwood’s Ascot  and Columbia Gold sets the right tone. A paisley shawl in autumn’s rich colors, candles of varying heights, and tall vases filled with apples and oranges and topped with hydrangeas and turkey feathers give the table a definite fall air.

3. Harvest Sentiments
The rustic charm of Spode Woodland’s brown border, a motif that has been in the Spode library since 1831, creates just the right mood for a fall tea table. We love the way you can dress it down with a grapevine charger, as above, or dress it up with a gold-trimmed plate (Herend’s Princess Victoria) below.

4. A Taste of Tradition
Orange linen place mats and napkins bring out the pop of orange in Lenox Autumn, above, a classic china pattern that was introduced in 1918. For a softer, more formal look, pair it with an Arte Italica Merletto dinner plate that mimics the look of lace, at right.

5. Harvest Delight
The warmth of a polished mahogany table and the sparkle of bone china (Richard Ginori Sienna Rust) set an elegant table for a formal fall dinner. The rich purples, reds, and golds in the flower arrangement echo the colors you’ll soon see outside your window.

6. Efflorescent Autumn
Alfred Meakin’s Medway Décor in dark brown combines muted tones with a bright, blossoming motif and the occasional sighting of a fluttering butterfly. Incorporate different rustic elements, such as a distressed wood table topped with a natural linen runner and accentuate the china’s verdant leaves with green antiqued wood chargers, or, pair the neutral chromaticity in Medway Décor with the scalloped-edged Filets Taupe dinner plate by Gien and brown patterned linens and carved wood-handled flatware.

7. Perennial Adornment
While Frank Smith Silver Company’s 2830 sterling teapot can be a year-round ware, let it shine at your table bedecked in a variety of harvest hues. Set Frank Smith Silver Company’s 2830 teapot at a table adorned with the flourished design of Charles Field Haviland’s Chantoung accoutrements paired with thin, gold-trimmed dinner plates, subdued sage linens, and tortoiseshell flatware for your seasonal gathering. For a bolder more colorful aesthetic, accentuate the stunning shine of the silver teapot with a beautiful floral tablecloth and the complementary hues of Minton’s Caliph teacup and saucer sets.

8. A Plethora of Pumpkins
Guests will relish in the abundance of autumn’s beauty at a table decorated with the season’s signature produce. Wedgwood Palladian and Palladian Countryside perfectly paired with vibrant orange linens set the scene for a gorgeous fall affair that won’t soon be forgotten.
